Like zombies themselves, The Walking Dead may never truly die.
According to Chief Content Editor Scott Gimple, the hit AMC series may get a second spin-off show.
At a recent International Comic-Con: San Diego panel, Gimple said:
“We’re currently working on some things that answer that question, so I shouldn’t answer it. There’s a lot of stuff that’s cooking in the garage right now. We’re working on all sorts of things, and as the months go on, we’re going to have a lot more to say about it.”
And despite season 9’s anticipated time-jump, Gimple also hinted at additional crossovers.
“You never know who might pop up on Fear the Walking Dead, and that includes not only [characters from] The Walking Dead but even potentially people from the past of Fear the Walking Dead. You never know.”
This all comes after Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, confirmed that season 9 would be his last. Rumours about his departure have been floating around for some time, especially after one of the show’s director’s shared a farewell message in a since-deleted Instagram post.
Whatever lies ahead for The Walking Dead, we’re at least curious to give it a look.
