One of the world’s toughest sailors is giving hockey a try!
King Features Syndicate has announced that Popeye the Sailor Man and PUCK HCKY, a Detroit-based streetwear fashion brand, are teaming up to introduce a new, hockey-themed collection.
PUCK HCKY has partnered with plenty of icons who are known for their grit, including Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains, Godzilla, Metallica, and more.
The new line features pro-quality hockey jerseys, hockey pucks, flannels, raglans, T-shirts, and more. The “Strong to the Finish” Deluxe Hockey Jersey, which is available for $139.99, features Popeye with a hockey stick and skates on a black jersey with red-and-yellow striping. On the back is the number 29, which symbolizes the character’s appearance in The Thimble Theatre comics in 1929. For $129.99, you can snag a “Strong to the Finish” Hockey Jersey with a slightly different graphic of Popeye and white-and-red striping.
The rest of the merch all features similar patterns of Popeye, complete with a hockey puck flying past his name and a bunch of anchors running down one sleeve. Fans can also purchase a Popeye hockey puck for $24.99, which is decorated with a close-up of the character’s face.
The Popeye x PUCK HCKY streetwear line is available now at puckhcky.com.
