Ravensburger, the German publisher behind popular games like Disney Villainous and The Great British Baking Show Game, released a new Disney trading card game (TCG). The game, uniquely named Disney Lorcana, is part of an ongoing collaboration with “the mouse house.”
Disney Lorcana is Ravensburger’s first-ever TCG. The game features fan-favorite Disney characters in original and reimagined art styles, with gameplay taking place in a magical setting for an all-around epic experience. Lorcana embraces the magic of Disney’s characters and storytelling as a simple to learn TCG for fans of all ages.
The game takes place in the world of Lorcana, the name of which is a portmanteau of the words Lore and Arcana. After taking on the role of Illumineer, a powerful sorcerer, players must band together Disney characters from Lorcana’s “The Great Illuminary,” a treasury packed with all Disney songs and stories in existence.
Ravensburger plans to reveal seven characters from Disney Lorcana at Disney’s D23 Expo next week. The TCG will be released internationally in about a year, in fall 2023. The release will be supported by an organized play program and four new card set releases each year.
