Disney is on a roll with its powerful female leads! The animation studio’s latest action-packed adventure story is coming to screens soon — and you’ll want to find out more about Raya and her dragon companion.
Today, Disney released a full trailer, posters, and a character list for Raya and the Last Dragon, three months after the movie’s first teaser trailer dropped. The film features a number of stand-out voice actors and actresses, including Kelly Marie Tran as warrioress Raya, Awkwafina as the witty dragon, Gemma Chan as nemesis Namari, Daniel Day Kim as Raya’s wise father Benja, and Sandra Oh as Namari’s powerful mother, among others. Raya and the Last Dragon follows the magical world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons co-existed long ago. But when an evil force threatened Kumandra, dragons sacrificed themselves for humanity’s sake. Now, 500 years later, this evil has returned to wreak havoc on the land — and a lone warrioress, Raya, has stepped up to the challenge. Her mission is to track down the legendary last dragon and restore the division between Kumandra’s people. Along the way, Raya will learn that strength and dragon-power aren’t all that it takes to save the world.
The film will be available on Disney+ with Premiere Access and in theatres on March 5. Premiere Access for the title is priced at $29.99.
