Resurrection Gaming Co. teamed up with manga publishing company Myfutprint Entertainment to create your next favorite trading card game. The Saturday Wars Collectible Card Game is a game that brings together iconic manga series, including Apple Black, Clock Striker, Hammer, Soul Beat, Bully Eater, Massively Multiplayer World of Ghosts, and more.
In the game, players take on the role of the Gwalliin, gatekeepers of the multiverse. They must compete to win chapters by choosing protagonists from the complete manga collection featured in Saturday AM and Saturday PM magazines. Each chapter is divided into phases: the prologue, during which special abilities are triggered; four actions per player; and the epilogue, during which players score points and special abilities come back into play.
The game also features a new Purge-to-Play mechanic. With this mechanic, players keep the game going quicker by purging cards from their hand, from play, or the top of their Shonen Decks when they play cards. Some cards also have a Purge ability triggered whenever a card is purged for any reason. Players can even purge a card in the Active Row to activate its Purge ability. The game can be completed in less than 25 minutes, making it perfect for a quick game night moment or several rounds of manga madness.
Saturday Wars CCG also celebrates independent artists, with fans getting to choose cards designed by up-and-coming artists to feature in each set. Resurrection Gaming Co. will also host a contest next month, with the winner getting the opportunity to design a card for Saturday Wars CCG Volume 2.
Saturday Wars CCG will first launch on Gamefound, with Early Bird backers getting an exclusive collector’s edition alternate foil card of Cast, The Clock Striker. When you sign onto the campaign, you can find starter decks, booster, packs, and more. Once the campaign is done, backers can expect their copy of the game to arrive in December. The game will also be available in hobby, game, and comic stores across North America and Europe.
