Building on its pirate-themed activities from last year’s Comic Con International: San Diego (SDCC), Adult Swim is ramping up with the next logical addition to any con activation theming: cats.

For those asking, “Why cats?” Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen shares his thoughts behind the concept: “Continuing our long tradition of being on the green at SDCC, last year we introduced a pirate ship motif because we have always viewed ourselves as media pirates. We’ve also always used cats in Adult Swim iconography (because they are night creatures?), so this year, obviously, it’s cats and pirates. Expect owls next year, because that’s the other animal we associate ourselves with. Just roll with it. Don’t think too hard. It will be hilarious. Please come hang with us and the best show creators and animation staff in the business.”

Fans attending SDCC from July 24-26 can stop by the Green (located right outside the convention center at 5th Avenue Landing and Convention Way) from 1- 7 p.m. for Adult Swim show-themed activities, photo ops, exclusive merch, and special evening events. From bouncing around a Rick and Morty-themed Bounce House to nabbing exclusive plush from the Common Side Effects Mushroom Hunt, there’s a little something for everyone.

On Thursday, fans can attend a special celebration of Robot Chicken’s 20th Anniversary with creators Matt Senreich, Seth Green, and other special guests as they discuss the process of working on Adult Swim’s longest-running show. Friday’s event will have a live reading of episodes from Rick and Morty and Smiling Friends from the voice casts, which will no doubt be a chaotic gut-buster of an event. Saturday’s event will have special screenings of new episodes from Adult Swim’s lineup, like Smiling Friends, Haha, You Clowns, Women Wearing Should Pads, a sneak peek at the season eight finale of Rick and Morty, and more. There will also be a raffle giveaway during the screenings, so be sure to get there early.

Early birds will have quite an advantage, as the first 750 fans each day can get their hands on an exclusive Smiling Friends vinyl figure. You won’t need an SDCC badge or to pay for a ticket to join the p-arr-ty, so even if a trip to the con isn’t in your near-future plans, you can still pay a visit and get some event-exclusive goodies.

For those attending SDCC who are still planning their panel visits, Adult Swim will also be hosting three panels at the Hilton Bayfront’s Indigo Ballroom on July 25: Adult Swim’s Haha, You Clowns Series Premiere Preview at noon, Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty Season 8: The Panel at 1 p.m., and Adult Swim’s Smiling Friends Season 3 Preview at 2 p.m.
