Apparently, vinyl figures, pencil toppers, keychains, and cereal just wasn’t enough variety for Funko. Get your wallet ready, because the company just debuted a new line of enamel pins at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC).
The first design in this Pop! Pins line is the Golden Freddy Idol. This design will only be available through Funko social media giveaways, and from the Funko Funkast team at special conventions and events.
Some fans on Twitter were a bit confused by this announcement because Funko already produces some enamel pins of characters that are inspired by the company’s Funko Pop! designs. The difference between the existing pins and these new ones seems to be the size. This Freddy pin is described on the Funko site as “the height of a Pop! figure,” which would put it just under 4 inches tall. Funko’s existing pins are much smaller. This pin also comes packaged in a thinner version of a Pop! box, not just on cardboard backing.
So far, there are no additional details on the price of these new pins, or when they will come to mass retailers.
