A modern staple of San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) is coming back for more action this year. The Her Universe Fashion Show is heading into its ninth year, collaborating with Disney for its ongoing 100th-anniversary celebration.

Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein and Michael James Scott, who plays Genie in Aladdin on Broadway, will host this year’s event, showcasing couture looks inspired by fandom faves. In previous years, Eckstein wore looks inspired by Jack Skellington, She-Ra, and her character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano. In accordance with the Disney100 theme, this year’s event will include looks inspired by Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and more.

As usual, the event will give aspiring designers a chance to showcase their original, fandom-inspired designs on the runway. The winning designers will have the opportunity to design a collection for Her Universe.

The audience will help pick a winning design, as will a panel of expert judges including 2022 Her Universe Fashion Show winning designers Cindy Guillermo and Michael Burson; Senior Vice President for Hot Topic Merchandising, Robin Motts; and the voice of Mickey Mouse and Disney Artist, Bret Iwan.

The show will happen on Thursday, July 20, at 6 p.m. PT in the Harbor Ballroom of the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel. Guests must have a badge for Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) to attend the show.

So many movies, shows, and video games have dropped this year with iconic looks for designers to put their own spin on. Who knows what we’ll see this year!
