Square Enix Marvel's Avengers

The Avengers aren’t done protecting Earth just yet.

Marvel Games announced at its panel in Hall H at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) that the league of Marvel superheroes will assemble once again in the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers video game, from Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics, set to be released next May 15 on PlayStation 4, XBox, Stadia, and PC.

Players must reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in this action-adventure third-person game. In the single-player story mode, they’ll customize the heroes with unique powers. Then, they can join the four-player co-op mode to defend the earth from threats.

Attendees at the panel got to catch a sneak preview of gameplay footage, which showed pre-Alpha footage from the prologue. This included the events of A-Day, the launch of the Avengers’ helicarrier, and the opening of the Avengers’ West Coast HQ.

Fans also got to see an exclusive demo showing how they can customize the superheroes with different gear and outfits, several of which are inspired by the characters’ original looks from Marvel Comics in honor of the publisher’s 80th anniversary.

Gentle Giant Studios will release a Collector’s Edition statue, which fans can preorder later this year, inspired by the new title. Attendees got a sneak peek at the paint master prototype during the panel.

You may have to wait until next year for Marvel’s Avengers to debut, but you can preorder the beta version for PS4 now.
