(Sorry, not sorry. Puns are fun.)
Whether or not you’ve seen Jordan Peele’s sophomore horror film Us — starring Black Panther alums Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke, plus Elisabeth Moss (Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale) — chances are you’ve seen think pieces and trailers dominating your timeline. (And hopefully, you’ve read our spoiler-free review, too!) It’s only fitting that NBC’s Saturday Night Live got in on the fun.
SNL cast members Ego Nwodim and Kenan Thompson (virtually) encountered their Us doppelgangers on the latest episode of the series, which was hosted by Sandra Oh, during a sketch that mashed up the film with those bizarre Discover Card commercials that show card holders getting customer service help from their twins or doppelgangers.
Nwodim calls the Discover customer service call center to report some suspicious charges, and a very Us-esque Nwodim lookalike answers the phone. The scene cuts to the “real” Nwodim so she can report the bunch of red jumpsuits, rabbits, and giant scissors that someone ordered using her card, and when it cuts back to Discover, we see the doppelganger holding the giant scissors as rabbits scurry about.
It’s hilarious and creepy AF in equal parts, particularly if you’ve seen the successful film.
We don’t want to spoil it too much, so take a look at the full sketch below!
