Sonic has been racing across video game screens for 30 years now! And in addition to his signature “Gotta go fast” and the iconic golden rings, few things from the franchise are more memorable than the music.
Within that musical legacy, the energetic Sonic Colors theme song and soundtrack are especially noteworthy (haha, get it? noteworthy). To celebrate that soundtrack — and the recent release of Sonic Colors: Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC — SEGA has partnered with iam8bit for a special, two-disk vinyl release.
This appropriately colorful double album features 21 tracks, including the aforementioned theme song, “Reach for the Stars.”
Fans can preorder the album now for $39.99. The album features art by Matt Stevens, a premium gatefold jacket, and randomized vinyl colors: a combination of orange, green, blue, and purple.
There was also a limited-edition “Sprite Trail Splatter” version of the album featuring splattered vinyl, but it was limited to just 500 pieces and sold out soon after launch.
