Sonic the Hedgehog is turning 30 this June, and that means we all have something to celebrate.
IDW Publishing, in partnership with SEGA of America, will release a Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Special comic book. The 80-page volume includes three tales of colorful heroes and dastardly villains!
It features work from the New York Times best-selling authors Gale Galligan (The Babysitters Club), and Justin, Travis, and Griffin McElroy (The Adventure Zone and My Brother, My Brother, and Me). They join longtime Sonic-scribe Ian Flynn and artists Mauro Fonseca, Reggie Graham, Aaron Hammerstrom, and Thomas Rothlisberger.
“Seasons of Chaos” is the story of Sonic as he adventures through the winter wonderlands in the search of Chaos Emeralds alongside Miles “Tails” Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose, Mighty the Armadillo, and Ray the Flying Squirrel. In the second story, “Dr. Eggman’s Birthday,” the vile villain takes center stage, as he has time and time again for three decades. In the third story, an old hedgehog learns new tricks in “Sonic Learns to Drive.”
Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Special will be available with multiple cover variants. Fans of Sonic (isn’t that all of us?) can find a hardcover, deluxe edition in October that features bonus content such as a cover gallery and a “From Script to Comic” feature. IDW will also release Volume One of the Sonic the Hedgehog: The IDW Collection in June. The hardcover editions will include the ongoing series, annuals, and mini-series in recommended reading order.
