Believe it or not, this summer marks 25 years of killing Kenny! The animated series South Park has (so far) given fans a quarter-century of laughter, satire, and brutal mockery of current events. And to celebrate, Comedy Central and brand experience company Superfly are launching a multi-city experience that immerses fans into the world of South Park.
In true South Park fashion, the experience will be housed in a custom fabricated shipping container — an homage to the real South Park Studios storage unit, where many items that will be displayed in the exhibit have been held. The shipping container features a custom, Cartman-inspired paint job that will serve as a photo opp for fans to pose alongside their favorite characters against three different iconic South Park landscapes.
Inside the shipping container will be props; memorabilia; artwork; collectibles; and never-before-seen scripts, storyboards, concept art, and more. Fans can also purchase merch at the exhibit’s tag sale, with each stop of the tour offering city-specific, limited-edition anniversary items.
Each fan experience will be held from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. local time. The tour will kick off on Saturday, July 23, at Union Square in New York City. This will be followed by Navy Pier in Chicago on July 30; the Red Rocks Trading Post in Morrison, Colorado,on Aug. 9 and 10; McGregor Square in Denver on Aug. 12 and 13; and Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles on Aug. 20 at.
The Red Rocks stop of the tour is an addition to the previously-announced, two-day South Park 25th-anniversary concert. There will also be a tailgate experience at the Red Rocks Trading Post, which will be open to the public. The celebration at Red Rocks will include activities, games, cosplay contests, and more. Fans can learn more about the anniversary concert by visiting the Red Rocks website.
The South Park: the 25th-anniversary experience is free to attend in each city.
