Maybe you can’t actually visit Jean-Luc Picard’s vineyard when you’re in the mood for your next wine tasting, but now you can have the next best thing.
Today, Wines That Rock introduced a pair of Star Trek–inspired wines that will pair perfectly with your Star Trek: The Next Generation rewatch or make a great addition to your Star Trek: Picard viewing party early next year.
The company partnered with the real Chateau Picard vineyard — it’s a located in the Bordeaux region of France — for a duo of wines: the Chateau Picard Cru Bourgeois from Bordeaux, France, and a Special Reserve United Federation of Planets Old Vine Zinfandel.
For those with a bit of wine know-how, read the official description for each:
- The 2016 Chateau Picard Bordeaux is an 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot blend that is subtly smoky and spicy with a bright, fresh, clean-tasting style. The wine spends 14 months in oak, 70% seasoned and 30% new; and
- The United Federation of Planets wine is a 2017 Old Vine Zinfandel from across the Dry Creek & Russian River Valleys in Sonoma County, CA. It is a blend of 87% Zinfandel, 12% Petit Sirah and 1% Syrah. It has aromatics of concentrated strawberry, blackberry and plum preserves with a chewy-layered mid-palate filled with hints of white peppercorn, sweet red and black fruit.
The two wines are available in a combo pack, including a numbered, limited-edition bottle of the United Federation of Planets Special Reserve. The first 1,701 collectors will also get priority notices on all future releases.
The pack retails for $120 and is expected to ship this September. You can order yours now at www.startrekwines.com.
