Pick your favorite friend to fight and brush up on your Jedi mind tricks — Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game is coming to a galaxy near you.
Fantasy Flight Games, a subsidiary of Asmodee and publisher of popular Star Wars tabletop roleplaying games, is returning to the Star Wars universe for a deckbuilding game that pits the Rebels and the Empire against each other in a timeless rivalry.
Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game features fan-favorite characters as cards to use in an epic battle between two players. Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, and others make appearances with abilities that can help turn the tides of war.
The game begins with a choice: Will you fight for the Rebels or for the Empire? One player will use a Rebels deck, while the other uses an Empire deck. Once you’ve chosen your side, each player starts with a themed, 10-card deck that isn’t particularly strong. You can spend resources to purchase new cards from the galaxy row in the center of the table, expanding your deck and hopefully amassing enough power to overwhelm your opponent.
Your cards can generate resources, attack opponent bases, and tip the scales in favor of the light or dark side of the Force. Once you’re feeling you’ve got enough cards together, you can start working to damage the bases belonging to your opponent. The first player to destroy three opponent bases wins the game.
This fast-paced deck builder will have you feeling like a Jedi Master (or a Sith Lord!). It’s available for preorder now for $37.99 at local retailers as well as Asmodee’s online store and is expected to release in March.
