It’s been two decades since Super Monkey Ball first rolled its way onto video game consoles. Twenty years (and about 20 games) later, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is getting ready to drop on Oct. 5 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.
To keep the celebration going, Sega has partnered with iam8bit for a collectible vinyl soundtrack featuring tracks from this new game, described as an evolution of the catchy tunes from the original version. Yuri Fukuda compiled the music, which has been remixed by Hidenori Shoji, Yuri Fukuda, Chihiro Aoki, Saori Yoshida, and Satoshi Okamura.
There are two versions of this 2-LP set available to preorder: a Limited-Edition Monkey Ball Vinyl and the Banana Yellow Open Edition. Both versions feature cover art that is a nod to Andy Warhol’s Velvet Underground album design, complete with a banana you can really peel.
The Monkey Ball Vinyl is limited to 1,000 pieces, costs $49.99, and features two-toned vinyl inspired by the titular Monkey Balls. The Open Edition costs $39.99 and comes with banana-yellow vinyl, with randomly distributed Bruised Banana variants.
Both versions are available exclusively on iam8bit.com and are scheduled to ship next spring.
