I must admit: I am a Redditor. I’ve been one since May 1, 2015. For those unfamiliar with the social news aggregation known as Reddit, crawl out from under your rock and come aboard. Membership is free, and they don’t even require an email address.
Dubbed “The Front Page of the Internet,” Reddit is a glorious place. It’s the web’s deepest, darkest rabbit hole, and it’s chock-full of pics, gifs, vids, and every other form of media in between. And while Reddit’s front page is home to the day’s most important news, there are also individual subreddits or niche communities that members can subscribe to in order to enjoy content that appeals to them most.
I’ve wasted (?) quite a lot of time on Reddit over the last 1,140 days. But if there’s one thing I have learned during my journey, it’s that the following subreddits help waste time like no other.
1. r/holdmyjuicebox
r/holdmyjuicebox is home to gifs and vids of children falling as a result of lack of judgment or a limited understanding of the world around them. Sure, it might be cruel to dedicate an entire online community to tumbling toddlers, but 261,940 users have been able to look past that. For the adult equivalent, check out r/holdmybeer.

2. r/HumansBeingBros
Bad day? Head over to r/HumansBeingBros for a pick me up. Over 500,000 strong, this community shares pics, gifs, and vids of people being kind to one another. I bet Ellen peruses this subreddit.
Just look at this bro doing everything he can to keep his pupper dry. Such a bro.
3. r/EducationalGifs
Just because you’re wasting time, doesn’t mean you can’t learn a thing or two. r/EducationalGifs offers an abundance of informative gifs that are short, visual, and easy to digest. Zip open your fun fact fanny pack, because it’s about to welcome some new tenants. The more you know, right?
4. r/AskReddit
r/AskReddit is uber popular, and for good reason. In this section of Reddit, users can pose thought-provoking questions that leave plenty of room for open discussion, wonder, and laughter. It’s a great place to land if you’re looking for personal anecdotes, quick banter, and more.
5. r/nonononoyes
As the name implies, r/nonononoyes is a gif and vid showcase of destined-to-fail moments that turn into surprises success stories. They’re also proof that you should always keep the camera rolling. This subreddit is such a rollercoaster of emotion.

6. r/instant_regret
No regerts? More like yes regerts. We’ve all had those fleeting moments where we think something is a good idea only to IMMEDIATELY wonder what the f*$% we were thinking.

7. r/TrueFilm
If you’re a movie buff like me, this small but mighty forum is a great space to have in-depth discussions about film. Read user takes on why The Last Jedi breaks essential screenwriting rules, or dive into an analysis of Childish Gambino’s “This Is America.” Whatever your taste, r/TrueFilm has got you covered.

8. r/BikiniBottomTwitter

9. r/ExplainLikeImFive
r/ExplainLikeImFive (ELI5) is the go-to community for basic answers to complicated questions. Pose a question on this subreddit, and more often than not an expert in the field will break it down for you in layman’s terms.
What’s the difference between All-Wheel Drive and Four-Wheel Drive?
Why is, no matter the color of the shampoo, the foam always white?
Why is “W” called “double U” when it’s clearly “double V”?
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY LIFE MYSTERIES?!
The point is that if you’ve got a question, ELI5 has an answer.
10. r/Nostalgia
Scholastic Book Fairs, the old Cartoon Network, the smell of fresh Play-Doh. r/Nostalgia is a digital playground for all the things you remember, but forgot. Featuring (mostly) pics of your favorite childhood staples, this community is a cheerful reminder of a simpler time. The good ol’ days. As Andy Bernard once said, “I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good old days before you’ve actually left them.”
