You won’t have to wait until Triple Force Friday to score an epic piece of new Star Wars merch, but this one is gonna cost you more than a few Republic credits.
An icon of the Galactic Empire is headed to LEGO Stores later this month.
The ominous ship that first wowed audiences in the opening moments of Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) is being brought to life in brick form as the LEGO Ultimate Collector Series Imperial Star Destroyer. Known as the Devastator, the one-time flagship of Darth Vader includes 4,784 pieces and features, such as swiveling blasters, a tilting radar dish, huge engine exhaust ports, and intricate surface details.
The Star Destroyer comes with a display stand and plaque, along with minifigures of an Imperial Officer and Imperial Technician. The set also includes a buildable scale replica of the Rebel Alliance’s Tantive IV Blockade Runner — best-known as the ship that carried Princess Leia, C-3PO, R2-D2, and the Death Star plans.
This impressive set will be available at LEGO Store on Sept. 18 for VIP Members, and on Oct. 1 for everyone else with an MSRP of $699.99 in the U.S.
For those considering building a fleet, LEGO previously issued Star Destroyers in smaller configurations, including its first take on an Ultimate Collector Series version, back in 2002. There was also a Super Star Destroyer produced in 2011. That ship, the Executor, became Vader’s flagship for The Empire Strikes Back, dwarfing the Devastator in size. When it comes to LEGO, however, this new Star Destroyer is the biggest yet!
Next month, new products from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The Mandalorian, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will hit stores on Triple Force Friday (Oct. 4).
