Tamagotchi

Tamagotchi

Guess who’s back? Back again? Tamagotchi’s back. Tell a friend.

The original Tamagotchi returns this fall, available in eight of the original colors and eight brand new colors. The new release will roll out in two generations and will feature the same original programming from when it first came out in 1997 (can you believe it’s been more than 20 years?!).

Bandai America released a new version of the Tamagotchi last year with a brand new style, but this year’s comeback will focus on the same look it had in the ‘90s because if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

The original programming allows users to feed the Tamagotchi, play with it, give it medicine, flush after it goes to the bathroom, check its health, and discipline it. Users have to raise the virtual pet from egg to child to adult. How you take care of your little handheld bestie will decide which of the seven adult Tamagotchi it will turn into.

All generation one Tamagotchi devices include a character game in which players have to guess which way the Tamagotchi will move next. The available colors include a purple shell with pink frame and buttons, translucent blue, rainbow, striped tiger, a pink shell with yellow frame and buttons, a white shell with black frame and buttons, red glitter, and mermaid. All generation two Tamagotchi include the number game in which players have to guess whether the next number will be higher or lower. These will be available in white and pink, black and silver, green glitter, colorful leopard, blue with silver, yellow with blue, galaxy, and white with colorful characters.

Tamagotchi devices will be available for presale on September 30 at select retail and online for $19.99.
