Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR) is joining forces with Toho International to bring Godzilla to U.S. shelves this October. The limited-edition cans and boxes will original kaiju artwork from Cuban-American artist Attack Peter, marking a massive collaboration timed to Godzilla’s 70th anniversary.
Attack Peter, also known as Peter Santa-Maria, is celebrated for his bold, hand-carved linoleum block prints that merge traditional craftsmanship with modern pop culture. His artwork has reimagined franchises such as Creature from the Black Lagoon, Alien, and Friday the 13th, alongside a steady stream of collectible figures and posters. For this collaboration, he designed four unique illustrations of Godzilla, Mothra, Mechagodzilla, and King Ghidorah, each inspired by Japanese mythology and rendered in his signature style.
More than 60 million PBR cans and boxes showcase these designs. Standard packaging features the King of the Monsters in black-and-white, while 25-ounce cans go even bigger with additional artwork, featuring iconic characters Mothra, Mechagodzilla, and King Ghidorah. A limited number of cans will also feature a special “blue atomic breath effect” that glows icy blue when perfectly chilled (and ready-to-drink).
The project continues PBR’s long-running art can series, which has highlighted cutting-edge creators while putting a new spin on the brand’s classic lager. Since its founding in Milwaukee in 1844, PBR cemented its reputation as both a cultural icon and a platform for artistic expression.
For Toho, the collaboration is part of an expansive licensing program that keeps Godzilla at the forefront of pop culture. Through toys, collectibles, apparel, publishing, and more, the Japanese studio’s U.S. arm, Toho International, continues to celebrate seven decades of kaiju storytelling across more than 25 live-action films, animated projects, and ongoing new content.
