Hasbro was so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should…
Okay, but in this case they 100% should. Hasbro definitely made the right call with its latest Transformers pop culture mash-up, which combines the iconic robots in disguise with the beloved Jurassic Park franchise.
Teased on social media last Friday and officially revealed today, this mashup is the latest in the Transformers Collaborative series, which has previously included transforming versions of the Ghostbusters‘ ECTO-1 and the Delorian from Back to the Future.
The Jurassic Park mashup, which is available to preorder now, features a duel pack of transforming figures inspired by the iconic attack scene from the movie: a “Tyrannocon Rex” and the “Autobot JP93.” (Get it? Jurassic Park ’93.) The former looks like the terrifying T. rex who wreaks havoc on the park in the movie, while the latter takes the form of a Jurassic Park Ford Explorer vehicle. It takes 27 steps to transform the Tyrannocon Rex and 18 steps to transform the Autobot JP93 into their robot modes. The Autobot also comes with a blaster accessory, while both figures a combined 260 decos and details inspired by the movie.
Fans will surely be eager to get these collectibles out of the packaging to transform them, but the set does come in co-branded window packaging, with the figures posed to recreate the scene.
Collectors and fans can preorder this two-pack now exclusively from Amazon for $104.99. It is scheduled to ship on Nov. 1. There will also be a second release of the set later this year, on Dec. 1, from Hasbro Pulse and other select retailers.
