Yeah, the Super Bowl was last week, but the esports championship tournament? That’s the real sporting event of the year!
Capcom, a leading developer and publisher of video games, is set to host its annual Capcom Pro Tour Season Final Event starting tomorrow, Feb. 18. The event is the culmination of an esports season that began last April and took place across 31 online qualifying events in 19 regions.
Capcom Pro Tour Final will kick off with a special 5v5 exhibition team tournament, in which some of the best North American players will battle in a special edition of Street Fighter V termed the Champion Edition.
Video game publisher Wizards of the Coast has announced itself as an official sponsor of the Street Fighter V: Champion Edition event. As a sponsor, Wizards of the Coast will showcase the new Secret Lair x Street Fighter cards during the stream. The Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair drop series features collectible, limited edition gaming cards. The collection features classic Street Fighter characters like Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken, Blanka, and Guile, and is available for preorder at secretlair.wizards.com.
The main event will take place from Feb. 18-20, and will feature all 31 players who qualified for this year’s Capcom Cup, as well as nine select invitees. The event will consist of 20 exhibition matches in which players will play first-to-five in hopes of earning a $5,000 prize.
The Capcom Pro Tour 2021 Season Final will begin streaming on Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. PST on the Capcom Fighter’s Twitter, YouTube, and Twitch. Let the games begin!
