It’s time to duel! Mark your calendars for the return of a prestigious international tournament and a major anniversary for a beloved trading card game.
Konami Digital Entertainment will hold the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship this August in Japan. This marks the first time the event is taking place since 2019, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The championship will feature three separate dueling tournaments for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game (TCG), Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links, and — for the first time since the game’s release — Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel!
Information about the qualifying rounds for the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship will be announced through the TCG and digital games’ websites, as well as through social media channels and in-game notifications. Fans can also check out Konami’s official tournament website for more information.
In addition to announcing the tournament’s return, Konami also released a promotional trailer for the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game’s 25th-anniversary project.
The official anniversary date is next year, on Feb. 4, 2024. However, Konami will start celebrating 25 years of dueling throughout this year, releasing commemorative products and hosting a variety of other promotions worldwide. More information about the 25th-anniversary project will be released soon.
