Robin has been saving Gotham since March 1940 and that’s something worth celebrating. In March, the 80 years of Batman’s sidekick will be honored with a special-edition comic, according to DC.
He was first introduced in Detective Comics No. 38 and turned the sidekick job into something that a hero couldn’t live without. Sometimes he fought with the Teen Titans, the Justice League, etc., but he always found time to save the world from crime.
The 100-Page Super Spectacular will have stories from more than a dozen of the decades’ best Robin writers, including Marv Wolfman, Tom Grummet, and Chuck Dixon. In addition, there will be eight covers for fans to collect from artists including Frank Miller and Yasmine Putri. The covers will each celebrate a decade. Lee Weeks designed a ninth cover that encompasses all of Robin’s glory. Check it out below.
Heros need their sidekicks, and that’s something worth celebrating. On March 11, the comic will be available for $9.99 at comic shops and online. DC advises people to check with their local comic stores to see which covers will be available where. For more info, head to DC’s blog.
