One thing’s for sure: Frozen 2 did not venture “into the unknown” in terms of box office haul. The Disney sequel was predicted to be a smash hit, and it didn’t disappoint. The film iced out the competition, bringing in roughly $127 million domestically and $223.2 million internationally, making the final global debut an estimated $350 million.
The debut is the largest animated opening ever outside the summer season and now holds the record for an animated opening in November. More than that, the animated film starring Kristen Bell (Anna), Jonathan Groff (Kristoff), Idina Menzel (Elsa), and Josh Gad (Olaf) saw the fifth-largest November opening of all-time, topping Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1‘s $125 million opening in 2010.
Frozen 2 opened at No. 1 in all markets in which it was released, with China leading the pack with roughly $53 million.
Anna, Elsa, and the gang are set to slide onto screens in Italy, Russia, Australia, and more next weekend.
