If you’ve already exhausted all of the comic-book-inspired TV shows on your favorite streaming platforms, don’t worry — DC Comics has more small-screen content on the way.
Yesterday, the publisher revealed that a series based on the DC Vertigo series Sweet Tooth is heading to Netflix, with Iron Man himself (Robert Downey, Jr.) coming on board as the executive producer — Definitely keeping it in the comic book family!
For those unfamiliar with the comics, they tell the story of Gus, a child who is part deer/part boy and has an affinity for all candy and sweets. Gus leaves home following a major event, joining a group of fellow hybrids to search for answers.
The cast for this adaptation includes Christian Convery, Nonso Anozie, Will Forte, Adeel Akhtar, and James Brolin. Jim Mickle (Hap and Leonard) and Beth Schwartz (Arrow) will manage the show as co-showrunners.
In other DC television news, HBO Max officially set a release date for season 2 of Doom Patrol, the popular DC Universe series. The second season of the show — which follows the adventures of Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman, Crazy Jane, and Cyborg — will land on the new streaming platform on June 25. It is part of HBO Max’s second wave of original releases.
The new season will pick up where the first left off, with the Doom Patrol members stranded on Cliff’s toy race car track, miniature-sized.
