Local comic book stores, like many other industries and retailers, have suffered significant financial losses after closing their doors as part of the effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.
If you are a comic book lover, collector, or gamer who loves your neighborhood comic book store and is looking for ways to support it, check out the Back the Comeback campaign. This initiative — created by Diamond Comic Distributors and Alliance Game Distributors — supports local pop-culture retailers, aiming to help with re-opening efforts.
There are a variety of ways fans can support the effort that don’t cost anything: shouting out their favorite shops on social media with the hashtag #BackTheComeback, adding a #BackTheComeback frame to their Facebook profile picture, and challenging their friends to do the same.
For those who do have the financial means to support the campaign, there are T-shirts for sale (pictured above) that read “Our comeback will be bigger than our setback.” Each costs $30, and all proceeds will go to charities that support comic, gaming, and pop-culture retailers. The shirts will only be on sale for two weeks, ending on May 27.
There is also a charity auction in the works to support the cause, hosted by Diamond International Galleries. The auction will run through August, but a start date has not been announced at this time.
