So how much is an Infinity Stone really worth?
Avengers: Infinity War from Marvel Studios brought in an estimated $640.9 million at the worldwide box office for its opening weekend, according to Disney. That record was previously held by Universal’s The Fate of the Furious, which amassed $541 million in 2017. Drive off into the sunset, Vin Diesel, because it’s superhero time.
The long-awaited Marvel flick that brings more than 20 superheroes together (where are you Ant-Man?!) earned an estimated $258.2 million in the U.S. alone, earning it the biggest opening weekend ever. Previously, Star Wars: The Force Awakens held the top spot with $248 million on opening weekend in 2015.
Avengers: Infinity War holds an 84 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a vast increase from its predecessor, Age of Ultron, which weighs in at 75 percent. And the epic superhero mash-up isn’t the only Marvel flick movie goers can catch this weekend. Just a few days before its home video release, Black Panther (96 percent on RT) is still in theaters across the country—and it’s a must-see before Infinity War.
And Marvel fanatics won’t have to wait long before getting their next superhero fix, with Ant-Man and The Wasp hitting theaters on July 6.
