Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel is flying high in theaters, so now comes the time to talk about the music. Composer Pinar Toprak (Krypton) crafted an excellent score that Hollywood Records/Marvel Music has released as the Captain Marvel Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, but there’s no official release for all the tasty morsels of ’90s gems that are all over the film. That’s where the Pop Insider has you covered! We’ve assembled a 47-track Spotify playlist that pairs Toprak’s score with every song featured in the film — and then some.
From Nirvana’s “Come As You Are” and Hole’s “Celebrity Skin” (yes, Kurt and Courtney made the cut!) to TLC’s “Waterfalls,” Elastica’s “Connection,” and No Doubt’s “Just A Girl,” every song that Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), and co. listen to is here. And while they weren’t in the film, we’ve also included Republica’s “Ready to Go” as heard in the TV spots, plus tracks from Bush and L7, who recently performed a Captain Marvel launch event at the former Tower Records store on Sunset in Hollywood.
Additionally, there’s a few deep cuts that have some significance to items in the film, such as Danvers’ Nine Inch Nails T-shirt, prominent posters of Smashing Pumpkins, 311, and Foo Fighters, and even a nod to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Crank up The Pop Insider’s Captain Marvel playlist, and be sure to follow it as well!
