After eight years and just as many movies playing everyone’s favorite Star Spangled Man, Chris Evans official bid farewell to his time as Captain America.
The actor took to Twitter after officially wrapping his final scenes in Avengers 4, calling the role “an honor.”

The tweet already amassed more than a million likes. Although Evans had previously announced that he’d be giving up the shield after Avengers 4, fans responded emotionally to the message. Many, including a fellow superhero, took the opportunity to thank Evans and bid him farewell.
I’m not crying. I’m weeping. There’s a difference.

You brought the image of Captain America to Life with your portrayal. You were so good that it is hard to imagine Cap without you. You became the Cap. But that’s also because you’re a good human being off screen too. May you have great life! ?? pic.twitter.com/dyopQn2QfE
