The Walt Disney Co. and Epic Games will create a new games and entertainment universe in which players can watch, play, shop, and engage with content, characters, and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar, and more.

The multi-year project is said to arrive “soon(ish),” according to its new trailer, which has amassed more than 2.1 million views in less than a week.

Development of the Disney x Epic Games universe will include the use of Unreal Engine, which has previously helped produce massively popular assets across the Disney portfolio, including Kingdom Hearts 3, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

“Disney was one of the first companies to believe in the potential of bringing their worlds together with ours in Fortnite,” said Tim Sweeney, CEO and founder of Epic Games in a press release. “Now we’re collaborating on something entirely new to build a persistent, open, and interoperable ecosystem that will bring together the Disney and Fortnite communities.”

Disney and Epic Games have previously collaborated on content integrations, in-game activations, and live events, including the Marvel Nexus War with Galactus, which drew more than 15 million concurrent players.

While we wait for details on exactly what this new gaming experience will entail, fingers crossed that it includes a heaping dose of Disney magic, paired with the campy fun of Fortnite.
