In news that comes as a surprise to… probably no one, Disney has taken Mulan off of its release calendar. After being moved a few times, the most recent release date was for Aug. 21. At this point, the movie is delayed indefinitely.
This isn’t the only switch-up to come from Disney. The Avatar and Star Wars sequels have all been pushed back a year. Avatar 2 is now set for Dec. 16, 2022; Avatar 3 for Dec. 20, 2024; Avatar 4 for Dec. 18, 2026; and Avatar 5 for Dec. 22, 2028. The next Star Wars trilogy will now debut around Christmas every year starting in 2023.
Not everything is off the calendar for this year, though. For now, Disney titles still on the schedule include:
- The New Mutants (Aug. 28 – check out the new footage from today’s Comic-Con@Home panel!)
- The Personal History of David Copperfield (pushed back two weeks to Aug. 28)
- Death on the Nile (pushed back two weeks to Oct. 23)
- Black Widow (Nov. 6)
- Soul (Nov. 20)
- Free Guy (Dec. 11)
- Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story (Dec. 18)
