After a two-month delay, the annual Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards has finally announced it’s nominees for the best of the best in the comic book industry.
For 32 years, the Eisner Awards have continued to celebrate all things comics with categories such as Best New Series, Best Short Story, and Best Anthology. This year, IDW Publishing leads the way with 13 nominations (plus one shared) and Image Comics follows closely with 11 nominations (plus six shared).
This year, the ceremony looks a lot different. It generally takes place during Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC), but due to the cancellation of the event, plans are still being worked out on how the winners will be announced. The pandemic also led to comic-industry professionals who choose the nominees taking two months to do the job that typically takes them four days, meaning the window for everyone else to vote is much shorter than normal. Members of the comic industry have only until June 18 to cast their ballot.
James Stokoe holds the title for most nominations for a creator with a grand total of five. He is included in the categories Best Writer/Artist, Best Single Issue, Best Humor Publication, Best Comics-Related Book, and Best Publication Design. For a full list of all of the nominees head here.
