In a since-deleted Tweet, 2015’s Fantastic Four director Josh Trank endorsed a fan’s suggestion to “erase” the film via a GoFundMe campaign.

The online exchange happened after another crowdfunding campaign fought to digitally remove the rat from the ending of The Departed. Trank responded to that request in a much different way: “The rat was the filmmaker’s choice. It lives forever. Make your own movie. Sincerely, All Filmmakers Ever.”

Trank’s next film is an Al Capone biopic called Fonzo, and will feature Tom Hardy. The film is currently in post-production and does not yet have a release date.
