Avengers: Endgame broke a decade of Marvel Studios’ traditions last month by omitting a post-credits scene. In previous MCU movies, the end credits scenes gave fans additional tidbits of plot, sneak peeks at upcoming Marvel movies, and fun gags — we even got our first-ever look at the Mad Titan Thanos as part of a mid-credits scene for The Avengers.
Now, two weeks into its theatrical run, Endgame will have something after its screenings: the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer. According to Deadline, theatergoers will get a message from Spider-Man actor Tom Holland before the movie starts, encouraging them to stay after the credits to see the trailer.
This tactic makes sense because the Spider-Man trailer is full of spoilers for Endgame. While this wouldn’t bother the fans who are heading to theaters for a second (or third) viewing of the Avengers blockbuster, showing the Spider-Man trailer before Endgame would ruin a major plot point for anyone seeing it for the first time.
But, of course, the studio wouldn’t want to miss out on a chance to capitalize on Endgame‘s success in promoting the next installment of the MCU.
