Your favorite Funko Pop! characters are jumping off your collector’s shelf and into the world of mobile gaming.
Funko has partnered with Universal Games and Digital Platforms to create the first Funko mobile game, Funko Pop! Blitz, a new match-three puzzle game featuring their most iconic Pop! characters. In the game, fans can play through 60-second rounds and match up three characters to score the most points to level up, complete quests, and win. Characters, such as Marty McFly, the Jurassic World T. rex, Lucky the Leprechaun, Shrek, and Frankenstein, are brought to life with animation that shows off a range of emotions and movements on the screen.
“Funko stands for everything pop culture and seemed to be the perfect way to bring together all of our iconic entertainment franchises, as well as others fans love, into one game,” said Chris Heatherly, executive vice president of games and digital platforms for Universal Brand Development, in a statement. “The Pop! style is iconic and unique, and we know that funatics love to collect everything Funko, which sets this up to be the ultimate character-collecting game. We’re thrilled to extend our collaboration, which started in toys, to the worlds of digital and gaming.”
With each game match, players can collect beloved Pop!s and activated, 3D-animated “Supers” that bring fan-favorite character moments to life and the game. Supers can be used to gain more characters or add more time to your clock.
Blitz also offers a Blitz Mode for fans seeking a different challenge. Using a Blitz meter on the bottom of the game board, players can fill it up as they find matches. Once the board is full, one of the five Pop! characters stored will temporarily disappear so fans can find more matches and score more points.
Developed by Tic Toc Games, Funko Pop! Blitz will be free to download with additional in-app purchases on the App Store and Google Play Store. For a limited time during launch, players will get an in-app Marty McFly Funko Pop! and additional gems and coins.
Fans attending Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) will get a first look at the new game’s details and character reveals at the Funko Funkast panel. The panel will take place in Room 6A at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 18.
