Casio America, the company behind the shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch, unveiled its DW5600SMB-4 model featuring design elements from Nintendo‘s Super Mario Bros. The limited-edition accessory focuses on Mario‘s “never give up” attitude, which mirrors the tough nature of the G-SHOCK.
The watch is designed to appeal to all generations of Super Mario fans, with Mario red on the bezel and dial, a blue background of the game’s overworld stages, and gold accents that recall Mario’s coins. Turn on the backlight and see classic Mario, which, combined with the glass-printed Koopa Troopa shell on the bottom of the dial, recreates an iconic game move.
Eight-bit Mario is printed on the band à la camouflage and all of the dial fonts are 8-bit to create that 1985 atmosphere. To commemorate the collab, the watch comes in special packaging that’s decorated with an illustration of the opening screen of the game and Mario’s “Here we go!” phrase.
The watch’s technology includes shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, an electroluminescent backlight with flash alert, a multifunction alarm, a 24-hour stopwatch, a 60-minute countdown timer, and both 12 and 24-hour time formats.
The DW5600SMB-4 is available to preorder now for $150 at gshock.casio.com/us. It will ship on Nov. 11, when it will also be available from select retailers and the G-SHOCK store in New York City’s Soho neighborhood. It’s the perfect accessory to wear to the upcoming Chris Pratt-voiced Super Mario Bros. Movie when it hits theaters in April.
