Mattel’s Hot Wheels has inked a licensing deal with Fender Custom Shop to create a highly limited guitar collection.
Under this deal, Fender Custom Shop’s team of 11 master builders and five apprentice builders will create 16 guitar designs inspired by the graphics and color shades of the 1:64-scale die-cast vehicles introduced by Mattel in 1968.
Each style comes with a Hot Wheels-themed strap, pick set, and hardshell case, all adorned in the brand’s iconic color scheme of orange and blue. Each guitar also comes with a Hot Wheels die-cast car that its associated guitar is inspired by, plus a certificate of authenticity.
The guitars in this collection offer a variety of color combinations, finishes, and pickguards that take inspiration from fan-favorite Hot Wheels cars. The 16-guitar Hot Wheels collection includes the following styles: Mod Rod Strat, Night Shifter Fretless Precision Bass, Bone Shaker Precision Bass, Mod Rod Tele, Twin Mill Strat, Bull Whip Strat, Fast-Bed Hauler Tele, Rip Rod Jaguar, Night Shifter Tele, Deora Strat, Mad Manga Strat, Night Shifter Strat, Muscle Bound Strat, Rip Rod Tele, Bad to the Blade Katana, and Baja Truck Strat.
