Lashana Lynch

Lashana Lynch kicked ass in Captain Marvel as Carol Danver’s BFF, fighter pilot Maria Rambeau, and now she’s stepping up to star in the new James Bond flick with Daniel Craig and Ralph Fiennes.

No, she’s not playing one of the seductive Bond Girls that were a staple of the previous 24 Bond movies; Lynch is playing the first woman and the first black 007.

There’s been a lot of chatter surrounding who would play the next James Bond (Richard Madden? Idris Elba?) but it turns out, Daniel Craig will continue to play Bond, who is in retirement at the start of the film, according to the Daily Mail. While Craig is enjoying his funemployment, Lynch fills the spot for agent number 007.

The newest Bond film is expected to hit theaters on April 8 next year, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge writing the script and Cary Fukunaga directing.
