LEGO fanatics and reality TV enthusiasts, rejoice. The fifth season of LEGO Masters premieres tonight on FOX with a new Star Wars-themed episode.
LEGO Masters featured a Star Wars-themed episode in its first season, but the brand is back for more galactic fun this season. In the new episode, Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers challenge the new contestants to create a LEGO creation out of the remains of a planet destroyed by the Death Star.
“We feel very connected with the Star Wars universe,” says Jamie Berard, Design Director at The LEGO Group and one of the two judges on the show. “This season is extra special because we’ve gone up a notch. We’re going right to the highest rank, where we have Darth Vader and we have the Stormtroopers coming … The Stormtroopers were pretty cool to have kind of around the studio. A little bit scary, but very cool.”
Alongside Star Wars, other popular fandoms will be represented in different episodes of LEGO Masters this season, including Wicked and Batman.
“We had the Batmobile in the studio. It was so cool,” says Amy Corbett, Senior Design Manager and Product Lead at The LEGO Group and the show’s second judge. “I think bringing fandoms outside of LEGO bricks together with the LEGO brand is super cool. We know fans really love those episodes because they’re just so exciting to watch and so nostalgic.”
Viewers can also expect fun twists on fan-favorite challenges, some of the most ambitious builds in LEGO Masters history, and fun new challenges, including a waterfall build challenge.
