If “Lionsgate” sounds familiar, that’s because it is the studio that made some of your all-time-faves, including the Twilight and The Hunger Games movies, the John Wick series, the Saw franchise, and more.
This week. Lionsgate appointed licensing leader IMG as its exclusive global agency for consumer products.
The companies have entered into a multi-year partnership, which will serve to expand consumer product offerings for Lionsgate film properties across a variety of product categories. This includes not only the titles mentioned above, but also Dirty Dancing, The Expendables, Now You See Me, La La Land, and more. The deal will also include Lionsgate’s slate of television properties, which includes Orange Is the New Black, Mad Men, Power, and Weeds.
IMG will also manage licensing for the upcoming movies in some of Lionsgate’s franchises: the Dirty Dancing sequel, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, The Expendables 4, and John Wick: Chapter 4.
This news comes shortly after Lionsgate decided to merge its Consumer Products and Global Live, Interactive, and Location Based Entertainment departments into one Global Products and Experiences team, led by Executive Vice President and Head of Global Products & Experiences Jenefer Brown.
Keep your eyes open for new products, events, and other licensing deals from these popular properties soon. We’re ready for another round of “Team Edward” and “Team Jacob” shirts — Just saying.
