File this under the best news of the day: Hasbro is bringing back the iconic ’80s board game Mall Madness.
This fall, the toy manufacturer will introduce an updated version of the board game, according to Bustle. The game — first released in 1988 — will be revealed at Toy Fair New York this weekend.
As many of us will recall, the game board originally featured 22 storefronts, fake ATM cards, and an electronic guide for players to shop the best deals. This new version will feature classic hallmarks from the original game with an updated look that’s current for this year. In the new version, players will choose a personality and play as characters Gwen, Sage, Avery, or Dax instead of colored pawns.
“In the original Mall Madness — as well as the new edition — the game is centered around the exciting experience of going on a shopping spree with friends,” Julien McCluney, vice president of global brand strategy and marketing at Hasbro, told Bustle. “The fact that so many adults reminisce about the original [game] more than 30 years after its initial release speaks volumes to its place in pop culture!”
This fall’s new version will retail for $24.99 and is available for preorder now.
