Sony is channeling a time when both Jared Leto and vampires were cool with its new trailer for Morbius.
Imagine that it’s 2008, and the trailer will really seem on trend. Dr. Morbius (Jared Leto) is ill with a rare blood disease and determined to stop others from suffering through his same fate. One disastrous experiment later, Morbius turns into an unpredictable force who craves blood — as compared to Leto’s previous role as the Joker, an unpredictable force who craves blood (for other reasons).
Stay in this time before Suicide Squad — a time I always long for — and it actually seems like Leto could be a promising antihero. The trailer packs a lot of fun action and includes a cameo from Michael Keaton — who could be reprising his role as the villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Whether you like the premise or not, Sony only has rights to so many Marvel characters, so let’s just give them this win, okay? Morbius premieres in July. Check out the trailer below.
