batman 80 silver

What better way to celebrate 80 years of Batman than with literal silver and gold?

Today, New Zealand Mint released its collection for the Caped Crusader’s 80th anniversary, and even the casual fan will want to get their hands on these unique collectibles.

To start, there are silver and gold coin notes featuring etched graphics commemorating Batman’s 80th (to be clear, these are literally engraved on legal tender. How cool is that?). Each comes inside a themed box and includes both a display case and an exclusive code to unlock Stealth, an augmented-reality Batman game.

The silver note (pictured above) measures 98 millimeters by 148 millimeters, with a suggested retail price of $49.95. The company will mint 10,000 of these.

The gold note, however, is a bit more exclusive: New Zealand Mint will only produce 1,000 of them. The gold note measures 140 millimeters by 70 millimeters, with a suggested retail price of $170.

The third collectible is a 235-gram, silver miniature of Batman in action, throwing a Batarang. Designed by Alejandro Pereira Ezcurra, the figure stands at 10 centimeters (about 4 inches) tall and retails for $699. There are only 1,000 of these miniatures being made, and each figure is numbered on its base.

Fans can get their hands on any of these Batman collectibles now, via New Zealand Mint’s website.
