When Ryan Reynolds announced that there may not be a Deadpool 3, we wept into our pillows and ate an inconceivable amount of mint chocolate chip ice cream. As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds is teaming up with Michael Bay and the Deadpool writers to create an undoubtedly hilarious, action-packed, blockbuster flick to debut on Netflix. While it’s not another Deadpool movie (we’ll impatiently wait for the next one that may or may not happen,) the film, titled Six Underground, sounds amazing.
Six Underground isn’t Netflix’s first foray into a Blockbuster action movie—they tested the waters in 2017 with the Will Smith-led movie, Bright, the biggest movie attempt by the company. . . until now. Dun dun duuun. The new movie will center around six billionaires who fake their own death and form an elite team to take down bad guys (so like… six Batmans, or…?)
With the wit and hilarity of the Deadpool fam and the genius of action director Michael Bay, hopefully this film will be just what Netflix needs to show fans its original movies can match the success it garners with its original series. Or, it will be horrible. Either way, we’re ready.
