Mattel BTS Dolls

BTS fans are lighting up the Twitterverse this morning since Mattel officially dropped the curtain on its BTS doll collection. Kept behind closed doors at Toy Fair New York last month, the new dolls were teased extensively over the past week, with Mattel only revealing a dimple here and a swatch of fabric there. Today, we finally get to see all seven members of the South Korean boy band — V, SUGA, Jin, Jung Kook, RM, Jimin, and j-hope — in all of their fashion doll glory.

The dolls are based on the band’s appearance in the YouTube record-breaking “IDOL” music video. Since its release last August, the video has racked up more than 410 million plays, plus an additional 70 million (and counting) for a version featuring Nicki Minaj.

Each 11-inch doll features rooted hair and is authentically sculpted to the likeness of each artist. With 11 points of articulation, fans and collectors can pose each artist to match the choreography from the music video, or to replicate their favorite BTS photo shoot.

To say that fans are excited may be an understatement. The first tease that Mattel dropped on Twitter last week garnered more than 140,000 likes, with more than 55,000 comments. No word yet on when the dolls will be up for preorder.
