Myah!

It’s Masters of the Universe (MOTU) Day, and this year Mattel is celebrating the Dark Hemisphere of Eternia.

Back in 1987, Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley was so hyped by the Masters of the Universe Power Tour stop in LA that he issued a formal decree that April 28 is MOTU Day.

This year, Mattel is marking the occasion by opening up preorders for its MOTU Origins Snake Mountain Playset. For kids that grew up with MOTU back in the ’80s, this set will look familiar as it borrows design cues from the original playset but includes some modern upgrades that Mattel calls “bigger and better.”

The front of Snake Mountain is dominated by an articulated snake that boasts a hinged jaw to pick up MOTU Origins action figures. The stairs and walkways have been widened, and the Mattel design team has added additional foot pegs that kids a bit older than “ages 4 and up” can use to display their favorite MOTU heroes and villains.

It also has a detachable bridge, soft plastic shackles, a removable dungeon, Skeletor’s throne, an acid pool, an escape tunnel, and more. And, when He-Man and the crew come knocking, Skeletor and his henchmen can strap up with assorted gear from the included weapons rack!

This set is the perfect companion for the MOTU Origins Castle Grayskull that was released in 2021. And, for anyone that backed the epic Eternia Playset, adding Snake Mountain is essential to complete the full display.

Now that you know what’s goin’ on for MOTU Day, I think it’s only fitting that we let Skeletor share in the fun…
