Disney The Lion King

Yes, we know, it’s gonna be a long summer full of king puns as we wait the last few weeks for Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King. But this time it really is warranted: In its first day of advance ticket sales, the upcoming film has managed to snag Fandango’s record for second-best first-day sales so far this year — coming in just after Avengers: Endgameobvs.

Plus, Atom Tickets says The Lion King has the best first-day sales for a family movie. That’s quite a feat.

For some Disney-specific context, that means The Lion King now holds Fandango’s record for the best first-day presales for a Disney film, outside of the Star Wars or the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Is anyone *not* going to see this movie? If you need something to focus on until the July 19 release, you could always geek out over the star-studded soundtrack.
