Why have one epic hero poster when you can have more than 30?
Abrams Books’ Abrams ComicArts imprint is suiting up with Marvel Entertainment and author/artist Alex Ross to release a poster book full of Ross’ comic book art. The Alex Ross Marvel Comics Poster Book ($24.99) will feature 35 11-by-16-inch, full-color, removable posters within 80 pages. Each poster is a realistic, ready-to-frame print featuring a painted portrait of a fan-favorite Marvel hero.
Ross is known for his vivid, human renditions of classic Marvel comic-book characters, from Ant-Man to Wolverine. This book will feature all of his gouache painted portraits, alongside commentary from Ross and preliminary sketches that showcase his creative process.
If 35 posters weren’t enough, the book also includes a four-page gatefold poster, which features all of Ross’ portraits assembled into a mural that was originally commissioned for Marvel’s New York City offices. Unlike the versions of his portraits that have appeared on various Marvel Comics variant covers, this image features full-body portraits.
The Alex Ross Marvel Comics Poster Book is available for preorder now and will officially debut on April 20.
