Last month, the U.S. video games industry set a new October record as gamers spent $4.4 billion across hardware, game content, and accessories.

According to The NPD Group, spent $46.7 billion in the first 10 months of 2021, a 12% gain versus the same period last year.

While finding a new console such as Microsoft’s Xbox Series X|S continues to be a boss-level challenge, they’re getting out there fueled an 82% spike in hardware sales for a 53% year-to-date gain. But, according to NPD, it’s still the Nintendo Switch that’s leading the pack in terms of platforms with the new OLED Model helping the portable console to keep its momentum.
